Carol Arlene Moran

Carol Arlene (Knappenberger) Moran, 97 of Bucyrus passed away on Thursday December 8, 2022 at Carlisle Place in Bucyrus.  Carol was born May 21, 1925 in Liberty Twp., Crawford County to the late B. Walter and Alma A. (Cover) Knappenberger.  She was married June 24, 1967 to Robert H. Moran who preceded her in death on March 10, 1998.  She was also preceded in death by brother Donald Knappenberger.

Carol is survived by children Raymond (Judy) Moran of Olmstead Falls, OH, Judith (Robert) Auxier of Parma, and Linda Moran of Bucyrus; grandchildren Robert, James, and John (Maire) Auxier; great grandchildren Amanda, Robert, Lea, Lillian, and Calvin; sister-in-law Ruth Knappenberger of Bucyrus; nephew James (Terri) Knappenberger of Cincinnati, OH and niece Jan Yorgen of Pittsburgh; great nieces and nephews Eric (Elizabeth), Anna, and Sarah Knappenberger, Reed Chamberlin, and Ryan (Katie) Yorgen.

Carol graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1943, received her Bachelor's of Education Degree from Bowling Green in 1950, and her Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1960.  She taught Elementary grades for 33 years in various places retiring in 1979 from the Cleveland Public School District. 

Carol had various hobbies that included impact sewing, knitting, crafts, refinishing furniture, gardening (vegetables, flowers, herbs), traveling, and volunteer work.  Most recently she has enjoyed reading.  Carol was currently a member of First United Church of Christ in Galion, the Delta Kappa Gamma, Crawford County and Ohio Retired Teachers Associations.  She was formerly active in Church groups as a teacher in Sunday School and singing in the choir.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
