Carl F. Schimpf

Biography:  Carl F. Schimpf of Bucyrus was born on July 30th, 1937 passed away on February 25, 2014 at Galion Community Hospital following complications from surgery.  He is preceded in death by his parents F Sylvanus & Ruth (Kurtz) Schimpf.  He is survived by his wife Shirley (Swihart) Schimpf whom he married on November 18th, 1961, and children Tim Schimpf and fiancé Peggy Wurm, Doug & Kelly (Huffman) Schimpf and their children Tori & Trissa, Rob & Kathy (Schimpf) Creel and their children Robby, Kim and Brittney all of Bucyrus, and Steve & Tina (Williams) Schimpf and their children Courtney and Ava of Michigan.  He is also survived by his siblings Lillian (Schimpf) Hartschuh, Melvin & Joyce (Britton) Schimpf, and Paul & Ruth (Stacklin) Schimpf.
 
Carl graduated from Holmes Liberty High School in 1955 as class valedictorian.  He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bucyrus and Ohio National Guard.  He worked at Galion Iron Works before retiring from Timken after 30 years of service.
 
Carl’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed restoring cars, tractors, woodworking, watching OSU and spending time outside.  Carl is loved and cherished as a husband, father, grandfather, sibling and friend.  His influences and lessons taught will not only be missed by those closest to him but will enable them to continue his legacy well into the future.
 
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Bucyrus Nazarene Church with Rev. Ray LaSalle officiating, burial will follow in Lust Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  The family suggests memorials be made to the church building fund and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
