Calvin C. Kurtz

Biography:  Calvin C. Kurtz, 90 of rural Bucyrus passed away early Friday Feb. 20,
2015 at Carlisle Place in Bucyrus following an extended illness. Calvin was
born Nov. 12, 1924 in Liberty Twp., Crawford Co. to the late James G. and
Elizabeth K. (Hoss) Kurtz. He was married June 2, 1946 to Wanda P. (Harrer)
Kurtz who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by son in laws Robert Mueller and Francis Germann as well as brothers Paul and
John, and one sister Ruth Schimpf. 

In addition to his wife, Calvin is survived by daughters Elaine A. Germann
of Sunbury, OH; Susan K. (Keith) Wise of Chillicothe, OH; grandchildren
Erin Germann of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; Kelly (Jim) Armstrong of Bowie, MD,
Melissa (Jason) Ingram of Middletown, OH; and Steven Wise (Cassie Giesipe)
of Athens, OH; great grandchildren Jacob and Abigail Armstrong, and
Bennett Ingram; one sister Mary Gorsuch of Lancaster, OH; as well as many special
friends. 

Calvin graduated from Chatfield H.S. and was a member of Nazareth Lutheran
Church where he was formerly a Deacon, President of the Church Council,
and served faithfully on the Cemetery Board. He served on the Chatfield
Volunteer Fire Dept. for 40 years and the North Central Electric
Co-op for 12 years. During the Chatfield and Buckeye Central H.S. consolidation, Calvin
served on the School Board. He farmed his entire life and shared his skills with his young grandchildren each summer. 

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday March 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the
Nazareth Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Pairan and Gene Luidhardt
officiating, burial will follow in Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery. The family
will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Saturday Feb. 28
from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. The family suggests memorials be made to the Church
Memorial Fund and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
