Biography: Brad Sobers, 75, of Bucyrus passed away on Friday May 2, 2014 in Galion Community Hospital, he had been in failing health but his death was unexpected. Brad was born Sept. 22, 1938 in Marion, OH to the late Graden and Helen (Frazier) Sobers. He was married Sept. 21, 1963 to Saundra “Sandy” (Shuster) Sobers who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Thad Sobers.
Brad is also survived by children Marc Sobers of Willoughby, OH; Renee (Ian Dixon) Sobers of Toledo; and Erik Sobers of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Kiley Sobers of New Washington and Sierra Sobers of Painesville, OH; sister Jan (Mike) Grau of Bucyrus; and brothers Keith Sobers of Prospect and Jon Sobers of Columbus. He is also survived by 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
Brad graduated from Prospect High School in 1956 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1962. He moved to Bucyrus in 1978 and retired from Burcliff Industries in 2001. Following his work at Burcliff, Brad worked at WalMart from 2001-2011. After moving to Bucyrus, Brad became an avid Indian Artifact Hunter and walked in several fields in Crawford County in search of Indian arrowheads.
At Brad’s request there will be no formal funeral services. The family suggests that memorials be made to Crawford Co. Humane Society, Lowe-Volk Park, or the Donors Choice through the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
