Biography: Billy Ray Zornes, 45 of Bucyrus passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 together with his brother, Lewis Wayne Zornes. Billy was born on February 25, 1970 to the late Paul David Zornes and Ruthie (Mullins) Zornes who survives.
Billy is survived by his son, Michael Ray Zornes (Coreena Thomas) of Bucyrus and was expecting his first grandchild; his sister, Candida C. Abresch of Galion, as well as numerous aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his cousin, Norman Ray Thompson who passed away recently on June 1, 2015, and his maternal Grandparents, Ray and Ida Mullins.
Billy was known as the greatest Auctioneer that ever hit Bucyrus, Ohio. He owned and operated Zornes Auction Factory on North Walnut Street. He was licensed and bonded by the State of Ohio as an auctioneer. Prior to becoming an auctioneer, he lived most of his life in the community. He graduated from the Lewis County High School. Billy was an outdoor person who enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, coon hunting, and was a former member of the Waldo Sportsman’s Club. Billy loved people and people loved him as you could tell by the crowds of people that gathered for his auctions.
Funeral Services for Billy, in conjunction with his brother Lewis Wayne Zornes, will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 in the Zornes Auction Factory with Bishop Ted Thomas and the Reverend Carl Angel; burial will follow in Whetstone Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 pm to 8 pm at the same location. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Zornes Memorial Fund through the funeral home.
