Betty Ebbeskotte, age 85, went to be with the Lord and her husband, June 14, 2024. Betty was born to the late Earl Arnold and Anna Marie (Luidhardt) Ross, May 25, 1939 in Bucyrus, Ohio. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul Ebbeskotte, whom she married October 27, 1962; sister and brother-in-law Dolores (David) Wolf, brother and sister-in-law Ronald (Phyllis) Ross, brothers and sisters-in-laws Madonna (Phil) Brock, Anna May (George) Drda, Dolora (Tony) Toth, Ruth Drda and Ruth Ebbeskotte.
Betty is survived by children, Mark Ebbeskotte, Marcia (Mat) Newcome, Doug Ebbeskotte and Andrew (Kim) Ebbeskotte; grandchildren, Ross (Kristen) Newcome, Caleb (Karen) Newcome, Chris (Leo) Newcome, Clara Newcome, Tatum Ebbeskotte, Beckett Ebbeskotte and Finley Ebbeskotte and sister and brother-in-law Linda (Donald) Heinlen and brother-in-law Roger Ebbeskotte, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty graduated from Holmes-Liberty High School in 1957 and Capital University in 1961. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs where she served in many capacities including Secretary, Choir member, Women of the Church and in other programs throughout the years. She was active in Thrivent Financial and their Helping Hands program. Outside of the church, she was involved in various community groups such as the New Washington Band where she played clarinet and the Chatfield Mothers Club where she helped organize their yearly Halloween Parade (hosting the marching band for post-parade homemade donuts). She also avidly supported Buckeye Central athletics and enjoyed hosting for several years the BC girls’ basketball teams for a post-season dinner in her home.
She spent many years working for the U.S. Postal service in multiple local offices and retired after serving as postmaster in Chatfield from 1988 through 1998.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 20th, at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home (215 N. Walnut St, Bucyrus) from 4PM-7PM. Funeral services are at St. Paul Lutheran Church (4707 Ridgeton-Annapolis Rd), Friday at 11AM with interment to follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Please dress comfortably for the expected heat and show your spirit by dressing in purple, Buckeye Central or Ohio State colors to celebrate some of Betty's favorite things. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church stained-glass window fund, St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery Association or the Buckeye Central School Endowment Fund.
