Barbara J. Kocher

Biography:  Barbara J. Kocher, 79 of rural Bucyrus passed away on Thursday March 20, 2014 at Marion General Hospital.  Barbara was born April 30, 1934 in Crawford Co. to the late Walter R. and Ida Fay (Whitmeyer) Gearhart.  She was married May 9, 1954 to Loyd Kocher who survives.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brotherJerry Gearhart.
 
Barbara is also survived by children, grandchildren, and one great grandchild; son Michael (Carolyn) Kocher, of Bucyrus, and their children Allan and Ashley; daughter Susan Sutherland, Bucyrus and her children Jason (Stacy) along with their child Jackson Sutherland , Aaron, and Tyson (Megan);  Son Steven (Lynn) Kocher, Bucyrus and their children Steven and Hanah; and son Ronald Kocher of Cardington, and his son Joshua (Hope); one brother James (Peggy) Gearhart of Bucyrus; and three sisters Phyllis J. (Arthur) Hieber, Norma (Ralph) Schifer, and Judy (Floyd) Reinhart all of Bucyrus.
 
Barbara lived her entire life in the community and was a graduate of Holmes Liberty H.S in 1952. She was a homemaker and partner in farming with her husband Loyd.  Barbara was very active in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ridgeton Rd. where she was a member for several years.  Barbara was a seamstress who loved quilting, cooking, baking, gardening, and most of all she enjoyed time with her family on special occasions.
 
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am in the St. Paul Lutheran Church on Ridgeton Rd. with Rev. Hans Scherner officiating, burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-7 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home.  Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery or Memorial Fund through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy may be left at munzpirnstill.com
