Biography: Alice Magers, formerly of Bucyrus, passed away on Friday Aug. 23, 2013 in the Kobacher House, Columbus , she had been in failing health for the past several years. Alice had lived in Columbus the past three years with her daughter, Melissa. She was born July 20, 1925 in Todd Twp., Crawford Co. to the late Boyd and Bernice (Lambert) Blackburn and was married June 8, 1947 to Richard Wayne Magers who preceded her in death on June 29, 2004. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Melinda Magers Lewis; brother John Keith Blackburn; and sisters Hannah Lehr, Helen Blackburn, and Ruth Arthur.
Alice is survived by daughter Melissa Magers of Columbus; grandchildren Alicia Huddleston and Benjamin Brown; great grandchildren Matthew, Tony, Monica, and Autumn; brother Donald (Marylin) Blackburn of NV; and sister in laws Ardis Blackburn of Lemert, Virginia Schultz of Bucyrus and Marilyn Murphy of Bucyrus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice graduated from Eden Centralized H.S. in 1943 and attended Tiffin University. She worked for a short time and following her marriage was a homemaker. Alice was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church and the Morning Circle of the Church. She was a volunteer for Contact Crawford County, a member of the Genealogy Society of Crawford County and served on the Election Board for 15 years.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 12 noon in the Good Hope Lutheran Church with Rev. David Bliss officiating, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church of Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
