Biography: Adaline Lavina May Kocher, 93, of Bucyrus was called home on Saturday July 26, 2014 at Marion General Hospital surrounded by her family and her pastor. Adaline was born Jan. 19, 1921 at the Staiger Family Home in rural Bucyrus to the late James and Dessie M. (Frank) Staiger. She was married Sept. 1, 1940 to Ray Kocher and together they led a loving and blessed life together for almost 74 years. In addition to her parents, Adaline was preceded in death by sister in laws Nellie Staiger and Mary Kocher as well as brother in law Carl Linn.
Adaline is survived by her husband Ray; son Eugene (Barbara) Kocher of Bucyrus; daughter Marjorie (Richard) Durigg of Bucyrus; grandchildren Scott E. (Abby) Kocher of Bucyrus; Katie (Brett) Leonberger of Worthington, OH; Eric R. (Kelsie Long) Kocher of Troy, OH; and Chris Durigg of Bucyrus; great grandchildren Miles Kocher and Addison Leonberger; brother James A. Staiger of North Robinson; sister Pauline I. Linn of the Inn at Orchard Park in Bucyrus; brother in law Earl Kocher of Bucyrus; as well numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Adaline was a devoted and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She worked hard as a farmer’s wife and mother. Adaline was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church and served her church as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendant, and was an active member of the Women of the Church. Together with her husband Ray, she served as church custodian for 26 years.
Adaline was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Mt. Zion High School. She was also a Farm Bureau Council Member and enjoyed cooking, gardening, her flowers, and sewing.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 31, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Martin Luther Lutheran Church with Pastor Chelsea Spencer officiating, burial will follow in Martin Luther Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7 pm. The family suggests memorials be made to Martin Luther Lutheran Church and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
