Ada A. Markley

Biography:  Longtime Bucyrus resident and former owner of Ada's Fashion Gallery, Ada A. Markley, 80, of Bucyrus passed away on Friday as a result of an automobile accident.  Ada was born May 14, 1934 in Limestone, Maine to the late George and Olympe (Rioux) Gervais.  She graduated from Limestone H.S. in 1951, completing the commercial course of study.  She always valued education and encouraged her children to do the same.   She was married June 30, 1956 to Daryl J. Markley, the love of her life, who preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2003.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Paul Gervais, as well as one sister, Georgia Berube.
 
Ada is survived by children Karen (Bob) Schmidt of Allison Park, PA; Ron (Marianne) Markley of Bucyrus; Darla (Ralph Curry) Richards of Las Vegas, NV; and Cindy (Ted Babcock) Markley of Sycamore; grandchildren Rob (Julie Horstman) Schmidt; Julie (Pete) Crossley; Jared (Mandy) Schmidt; Elizabeth (Mario Tarallo) Markley; Michelle Markley; Amy (Chad) Durham; Sarah (Michael Hoyt) Markley; Tim (Sarah Moore) Markley; Shane Spears; Carrie (Wes Cooley) Spears; and Nicole (Jon Powers) Spears; great grandchildren Madison and Wyatt Crossley, Natalie Hankins, Owen Durham, Brooklynn Hoyt, Grace Cooley, and Morgan Powers; brother Rainald (Sandra) Gervais of Limestone, Maine; sister-in-law Carmen Gervais of Bucyrus; sister-in-law and brother-in-law June and Don Bowen of Mt. Gilead; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.
 
Ada began working at Timken when she moved to Bucyrus shortly after her graduation, where she met her husband.  They had 46 wonderful years together.  She later owned and operated Ada’s Fashion Gallery in Bucyrus for 20 years.  She had a connoisseur's eye for fashion and was very artistic.  She was also a very talented cake decorator and had a home business, making wedding cakes etc. while raising her young  family.  Family was always her priority and she raised her children with integrity and humor.  She was currently working at Sears in the Richland Mall, where she has earned many customer service awards.  Ada was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Bucyrus Elks Lodge.
 
Ada's home was always open to her family and friends.  She will be especially remembered for her warmth, her sense of humor, her spirit of adventure, and the tenaciousness that allowed her to achieve top rankings in many diverse endeavors.  Because of her we will strive to live more fully, laugh louder, and love ever so deeply as she has taught us.
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 am in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father John Miller as Celebrant.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with prayer services being held at 6:45 pm.  Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
