Steve E. Volkmer, 46, of Bucyrus died from an apparent heart attack Tuesday Sept. 22, 2009 in Liberty, Kentucky. He was born in Bucyrus on Nov. 22, 1962 and he was the son of Larry and Shirley (Miller) Volkmer of Bucyrus.

Steve is also survived by a daughter Stevie Volkmer, son Mason Volkmer both of Ashland, a grandson Noah, a brother Dan and wife Tina Bloomfield of Bucyrus, two sisters; Valerie and husband Sherman Bayless of Caledonia, Deb and husband Jim Brause of Charlotte, North Carolina, nieces; Jennifer Butcher, Dana Watts & Alisha Penwell, nephews; Daniel Bloomfield, Nathan Murphy, Jesse and Seth Brause.

An area resident his entire life, he served in the Marines and worked for over twenty years at Transco. Steve enjoyed sports and anything dealing with the outdoors.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home where services will be Monday Sept. 28, 2009 at 11AM with Pastor Eric Boggs officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #181 will be in Brokensword Cemetery.
