John F. Spaid 70, of Bucyrus died Wednesday at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, following a short illness. He was born in Bucyrus to Elwood S. and Helen M. (Ricksecker), both deceased. On September 16, 1962 he married Sharon Sheaffer who died January 20, 1976. Also preceding him in death is a Brother Eugene Spaid.
On June 7, 1980 he married Barbara Sparr who survives along with Children Jennifer (Mark) Gerger, and John D Spaid of Bucyrus, Rod (Suzy) Hawkins and Neal (Angel Carter) Hawkins both of Worthington,and Grandchildren Jessica and Bryant Gerger, Ryan Hawkins, Elizabeth and Kayla Hawkins.

John was a Machinest at Ohio Crane then went to General Electric where he was a Machinest until retirement in 1999 after 32 years. He lived his entire life in Bucyrus and graduated Class of 1957 from Bucyrus High School. He was a Member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church where he served in many positions. He served in the National Guard from 1962 to 1967and was a Member of American Legion Post 181. His many interests including Model Railroading, and Wood Carving, and enjoyed his family and Grandchildren.
Friends may call Sunday at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home from 1-3 and 6-8. Services will be held Monday at 10:30AM in the Woodlawn United Methodist Church with Major Tim Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
