Hazel Quaintance Leuthold, 100, of Bucyrus died Sunday afternoon Nov. 1, 2009 at Fairview Manor where she had resided for the past several years.
Born February 23, 1909 in Crawford County, she was the daughter of the late William and Caroline (Seiler) Leonberger. Hazel married Murray J. Quaintance June 27, 1926 and he preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1948. She later married Arthur J. Leuthold April 27, 1952 and he preceded her in death in January 1973. Hazel is also preceded in death by a son Robert Quaintance, grandson David Allen Quaintance, a brother Fred Leonberger, 5 sisters Lolabelle Shellhouse, Velma Dickey, Lucille Assenheimer, Bernice Carmean and Bertha Scheffler.
She is survived by four children; daughter Doris and husband Ernest Striker, son Richard and wife Joyce Leuthold, daughter Virginia Smith all of Bucyrus, son Ted Leuthold of Columbus, daughter-in-law Marva Quaintance of Bucyrus, 12 Grandchildren many Great and Great Great Grandchildren, two sisters Norma Fairchild and Isabelle Billings both of Bucyrus.
Hazel was a 1926 graduate of Mt. Zion school and lived in the area her entire life. She had been an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church and active in the choir.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home where services will be Friday Nov. 6, 2009 at 10:30AM with Pastor Don Kraps officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Bucyrus. Memorial Contributions may be made to the church or the activity fund at Fairview Manor in care of the funeral home.
