Harold Kocher, 91, of 1785 Lemert Road Bucyrus died early Sunday morning Dec. 27, 2009 at Altercare of Bucyrus. He was born in Crawford County on February 14, 1918 and was the son of the late Charles and Camilla (Yaussy) Kocher.
Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years Ruth (Wagner) Kocher whom he married Aug. 30, 1942. Also survived by three children; Jim and wife Sally Kocher of Chapel Hill, NC., Tom and wife Jan Kocher of Bucyrus, Carolyn and husband John Myers of Upper Sandusky, 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild; Cindy (Robert) Perry and their son Jack of Coral Gables, FL, Keith (Sara) Kocher of Ann Arbor, MI, Craig (Abby) Kocher of Richmond, VA, Tim Kocher of Cary, NC, Matthew Myers of Kent, OH, Emily Myers of Bowling Green, OH, sister Martha and husband Warren Smith, brother Wayne and wife Mary Kocher, sister-in-law Florence and husband Paul Durigg, brother-in-law Arthur Wagner and wife Joyce all of Bucyrus and 25 nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a sister Persis and her husband Guy Ritzhaupt.
Harold was a 1936 graduate of Holmes Liberty School and was a retired farmer. He was a life-long devoted member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Bucyrus where he served in many leadership roles. Harold enjoyed carpentry and over the years, built or remodeled several houses, barns, kitchens, bathrooms and cabinets. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening, mowing lawn, helping around the farm and tending for his small poultry flock.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8pm at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home where services will be Thursday Dec. 31, 2009 at 10AM with Rev. Don Kraps and his grandson Rev.
