Flora Butler, 81, of 817 S. Highland Ave. passed away Saturday afternoon Aug. 15, 2009 at Altercare of Bucyrus, where she had been a resident since June of 2008. Flora was born July 23, 1928 in Lewis County, Kentucky to the late Mae Bryant.
On January 6, 1944 she married Glenwood "Ace" Butler and he preceded her in death February 14, 1998.
Surviving are four daughters; Mary and husband Harold Coleman of Bucyrus, Judy and husband Dwight Barnett of Clay City, KY., Shirley and husband Dave Sharrock of Lexington, Ohio, Alice and husband Joe McElvain of Crestline, six sons; Glenn Ray Butler of Clay City, KY, Richard Butler of Bucyrus, Dean and wife Rosie Butler, Larry and wife Nedra Butler all of Bucyrus, Harry and wife Barb Butler of Dunedin, Fla. and William and wife Denise Butler of Bucyrus, 27 Grandchildren, 39 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren and a brother Lovelle Miller of Bucyrus.
Flora was preceded by her husband of 54 years, a son Billy Joe, a granddaughter, Kenna Raye, a daughter-in-law Mae Butler and son-in-law Darrell Ruckel and three brothers Harold, James and Everett Miller.
Flora and Glenwood moved from Lewis County to Bucyrus in 1960. She was a homemaker until her last child graduated from high school then she went to work at Fairview Manor for ten years retiring in 1994. After Glenwood's death, she fulfilled her life with cooking, quilting and crafts for her family and friends.
Calling hours will be Monday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home where services will be Tuesday Aug. 18, 2009 at 11:00AM with Rev. Dr. Timothy Compton officiating.
