Living, losing, and letting go are inevitable lifelong processes for very person. The changes in our lives include celebrations and losses. Some losses we anticipate and have time to prepare for. Other losses hit us unexpectedly and with sudden power. Important losses leave us in shock, deeply wounded and with intense pain.
Grief is our natural response to life's losses. At its best, it is process of growth, healing and adjustment to the new reality after the loss.
This process, however, does not happen automatically. Time alone does not heal our wounds. Rather, it takes work over time to move on, to heal and to grow through the experience of grief and loss. That's why we speak about "grief work." The greater and more unexpected the loss, the harder the work
